Dear Gateway Gator, Gator Alumni, Coach or other:

The Gateway Sports Hall of Fame began inducting members five years ago. Quickly, we outgrew the trophy case in the front foyer of the new sports complex. Our vision is to have a permanent home for the hall of fame and the new Gateway sports complex is the logical choice for the location. On October 30, 2002, the Gateway Board of School Directors approved our request for space in the sports complex to construct our permanent home. Plans were prepared and submitted by J.A. Kudravy & Associates, an architectural firm from Pittsburgh. John Kudravy is a 1967 graduate from Gateway.

The initial cost estimates to construct the hall of fame room and purchase display units will run between $ 20,000 and $ 30,000. We need to raise these funds. We need to show the school board that the funds are readily available to handle the construction costs. The executive committee for the Gateway Sports Hall of Fame has decided to sell black ceramic tiles that will cover the floor area. The tiles will measure 5.5 inches by 5.5 inches and will include the alumni name, graduation year and predominant sport printed in gold. An actual size example is available below.

The cost of each individual commemorative tile is $ 125.00. We need to sell 200 to 300 tiles to finance construction. Tile purchases will be available to any Gateway Alumni who earned a letter in a varsity sport. Coaches, managers and any other person that contributed to Gateway High School athletics are eligible to purchase a tile. Spouses and parents may purchase tiles for their spouse or child. I have set up a separate account to deposit the revenue and pay the bills. I truly believe that we will be able to raise the necessary funds. If anything whatsoever goes wrong and the room is not constructed for any unforeseen reason, I will refund each and every person their prepayments. The cost for the individual tile including installation and printing is estimated to be at least $ 20.00 per tile.
